Around Yale Creek Ranch

Southern Oregon is a great place to be!  From hiking and nature, food and dining, wine and beer, to festivals and music, we've got it all.

Vineyards, Wineries, Brewery

We are in the heart of Southern Oregon's Applegate Valley and home to many world class wineries.  Given it's own AVA in 2000, this pocket of wine country is encompassed by the rippling Siskiyou Mountains, and the Rogue River & Siskiyou National Forests.

"What sets the Applegate Valley apart from others, is there's still a sense of the undiscovered.  With about 20 wineries total, most small and many family-run, there's a high chance that when you pull up to the barn-turned-tasting room, the person pouring your taste of Syrah is the winemaker." -Kerry Newberry

In addition, the region is widely known for its fruit production.  Harry & David established their pear orchards in the Rogue Valley in 1910, and continue to this day to sell their holiday gift baskets.  From these pears and other fruit, you can find fine cider at Apple Outlaw, or a wonderful perry at Blossom Barn, both in the heart of the Applegate.

If you are a beer lover, the PNW has you covered.  Our local producers include Opposition Brewing Company, Walkabout Brewing Co., Connor Fields, Bricktowne, and Caldera to name a few.  Most have tasting rooms, or are available locally at restaurants and eateries.

Food, Farms, Ranches

With a rich history in agriculture, the greater Rogue Valley does not disappoint in food.  Jacksonville may be small, but has many surprising options for its size.  Ashland has world class cuisine in many different categories.  Medford and Grants Pass has all your desires covered.

The Applegate has many farms and ranches with stores and cafés, including Whistling Duck Farmstore & Pennington Farms.  Plaisance Ranch also offers food and music on the weekends during the summer season.  Please check each individual's hours and offerings

Hiking & Nature

The Siskiyou Mountains are home to epic trails, vistas, and diverse ecological flora and fauna.  Our immediate backyard has many options for hiking and sightseeing, including The Sterling Mine Ditch Trail, The Jack-Ash Trail system, and the East Applegate Trail.  Or for more adventure paragliding off

The greater Rogue Valley offers hikes and outdoor activities such as Table Rocks, skiing on Mt. Ashland,  Rafting on the Rogue River or the Klamath River, or boating on Appleghate Lake or Lake of the Woods.

In a day drive you can find yourself in the Redwoods and the Smith River, the Pacific coast, visiting Crater Lake National Park, or skiing Mt. Shasta.
